The ideal candidate for our Tasting Room will have previous experience in hospitality and service, the ability to quickly pivot from one task to the next, and possess a thirst for learning and sharing knowledge about Oregon wine.

Tasting Room Associate

At Björnson Vineyard, the first and foremost task is to help the customer. This includes (but may not be limited to):

  • Welcome guests in a friendly, upbeat manner and anticipate their needs throughout their visit
  • Educate guests on Björnson Vineyard history and winemaking practices
  • Be knowledgeable about wine club to answer questions from customers
  • Host various levels of tours, tastings and guest experiences for both consumer and trade
  • Have knowledge of vintage variation, basic viticulture and basic geology of the Willamette Valley and AVA info
  • Handle the direct-to-consumer sales in the tasting room using the point-of-sale system
  • Prepare charcuterie plates
  • Help with wine club shipments
  • Daily opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure the tasting room is clean

Qualifications:

  • Upbeat, outgoing, passionate about wines, engaging, personable
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and wine sales skills
  • Experience with or interest in wine and learning about the winemaking process
  • Experience tasting wine
  • Experience or interest in event planning
  • Flexible work hours and location
  • Hospitality experience and/or training
  • Detail oriented
  • Reliable, punctual, self-motivated, ability to prioritize and complete tasks
  • OLCC Servers Permit and Food Handlers Permit
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs (case of wine)
  • Reliable transportation
Kitchen Helper/Busser

Wash and clean tableware, pots, pans and cooking equipment. Assist with food prep as requested. Keep the dish washing area and equipment clean and organized.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Removing used glasses, plates, cutlery, napkins and more from tables after guests are done.
  • Assists Kitchen Attendant
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for the cleanliness of dishware
  • Load, run and unload sanitizer machine
  • Keep the sanitizer machine clean and report any functional or mechanical problems to the Tasting Room Manager immediately
  • Monitor sanitizer machine water temperature and chemical levels to ensure appropriate sanitation cycle
  • Wash and store all tableware and kitchenware
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Maintain adequate levels of clean tableware for tasting room
  • Bag and haul kitchen trash to dumpster
  • Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss
  • Maintain adequate levels of dish detergents and cleaning supplies
  • Clean food preparation and production areas as required
  • Closes the kitchen properly
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Tasting Room Manager

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a positive attitude and work well with other team members
  • Must be able to work unsupervised
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with Tasting Room Manager and all Bjornson staff
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 7 hours)
  • Ability to follow direction and ask questions for clarification if needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced tasting room environment
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends
